Le Mans Classic is shifting up a gear. From 2026 it becomes an annual event, giving fans a fresh edition every summer instead of waiting years between gatherings. The first in this new cycle is Le Mans Classic Legend 2026, a full celebration of the turbo era of the 1970s through to the early 2010s. It’s a major step for the organisers and a big moment for anyone who follows endurance racing.

And the first edition of this new cycle arrives with attitude.

Le Mans Classic Legend 2026 leans hard into a slick neo-retro look inspired by the 1970s to the 2010s. Think neon brights, late-night racing atmosphere, and that hazy motorsport nostalgia. The updated visual identity aims to capture the thrill of classic racing without feeling stuck in the past.

It’s a smart move. It roots the event in its heritage but will feel dead sexy to the people who grew up obsessed with Group C monsters and glossy endurance-race posters on their bedroom walls

When is it?

The event runs from 2 to 5 July 2026 on the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. It’s a huge weekend for car fans, as any fule kno. But the switch to an annual format is what’s made everyone’s ears prick up. From 2026 onward, two versions will rotate:

• Le Mans Classic Legend – the 1970s to 2010s era, with turbo engines, GT icons and the kind of aggressive design that shaped a generation of car culture. This is the 2026 edition, with new grids (6 to 10).

• Le Mans Classic Heritage – launching in 2027, focusing on the earliest days of endurance racing, from 1923 up to the 1970s, covering pre-war machines, early GTs and historic rivalries

This new structure means fans will now get a fresh take every summer. No repeats and no waiting years for your favourite era.

The scale remains enormous. The 2025 event saw almost 238,000 spectators, 800 cars on the track and more than 9,000 club vehicles brought by 220 international groups. The organisers clearly expect 2026 to match that energy, if not top it

Ticketing has opened with a wider spread of options

The standard Entry ticket still gets you into the village, the trackside areas and the club displays. You can upgrade to paddock access, grandstand seating or both. VIP and hospitality packages return for anyone wanting a more exclusive view. And for the first time there’s a Weekend ticket for Saturday and Sunday visits. The organisers have also kept things friendly for people staying on-site, with spaces for tents, caravans and motorhomes.

A major addition for 2026 is the redesigned M24 Motorsport Museum, now an 8,600-square-metre space built as an immersive journey through the entire world of motorsport. It spans Formula 1, endurance, rally and American racing culture. Weekend or four-day ticket holders get access, making it an easy extra stop between races. The museum is only open to visitors on the days their ticket is valid

The event also continues its partnership with the Paris Brain Institute, a leading centre for neuroscience research. Fans can add a small donation when buying tickets, supporting work into conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and stroke. With one in two Europeans affected by neurological disorders in their lifetime, it’s a meaningful link between motorsport passion and real-world impact

For most, the real draw will be the cars

Classic Legend covers the era that shaped modern motorsport fandom. The brutal beauty of prototypes from the 1980s. The unmistakable lines of GTs from the 1990s. The technical leaps of the early 2000s. These decades still define how a lot of us think racing should look and sound.

Add the neon-drenched new branding and you’ve got an event that plays with nostalgia in a confident way. It knows its audience. It knows that for GenX, Le Mans was the race that made motorsport glamorous, dangerous and impossibly cool.

That’s what Le Mans Classic Legend 2026 is promising to bring back. Not just a historic showcase, but a full sensory revival of the racing eras we grew up with. Vroommmmm!

Shot during actual live F1 races and enriched by the expertise of Lewis Hamilton as producer, this groundbreaking film captures the speed, danger, and drama of motorsport like never before. Take it from us. You are RIGHT there in the driving seat, literally and figuratively. 

We sent along F1 fan and aficionado Emily Tate to the premiere to check out the film before it hits the theatres. Here’s everything you need to know, from the first lap to the checkered flag. But first, a word from Brad.

A (Brad) Pitt-stop 

The A-list cast from F1: The Movie has certainly revved-up expectations. Star of Fight Club, Inglorious Bastards and Bullet Train, Brad Pitt is no stranger to an action film. Speaking about F1: The Movie, Pitt share his awe at driving real F1 cars. 

“I still don’t know how we got away with it,” he said about how he, alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski, made what Pitt called “the most visceral driving experience that’s ever been put on film.”

And what they got away with was putting Pitt and his fellow actor Damson Idris into professional race cars and filming them at top speeds. “The forces in these cars, the high-speed corners, the physics of it all want to rip your head from your shoulders,” says Pitt. “It’s shocking what these cars can do. And it’s a high unlike any high I’ve ever experienced before. We just couldn’t capture it any other way.”

It’s a film that will appeal to everyone, not just F1 fans…

Pitt says that the magic of the movie is the way it will appeal equally to longtime fans of the sport and to anyone who’s never even heard of Formula 1. “Threading that needle was the biggest challenge. But I think we’ve done that; made it enlightening enough and understandable for newcomers without dumbing it down for ultra fans. It’s funny, it’s aggressive, it’s driving, and it’s surprisingly heartwarming. I love all these characters. I think this film is so damn entertaining on so many levels.”

Joining Pitt is Damson Idris as his teammate-come-rival Joshua Pearce. Poised as one of Hollywood’s most dynamic rising stars, you may recognise him from his role as drug kingpin Franklin Saint in FX’s Snowfall. Or from his roles in Black Mirror and Swarm.

Pursuing something more adrenaline-driven, Idris has always hankered after a heart-stopping physical opportunity like this film. Speaking to GQ recently, Idris says, “I said I wanted to play an athlete and along came F1.” Later, discussing the film in an interview with the NME he adds, “It’s relatable for people who aren’t even F1 fans because it’s not only about being an underdog, but about being given a second chance. That’s something everyone deserves.”

Rounding out the star-studded crew (and offering the only strong female character in the whole show) is Kerry Condon, most recently from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. And Javier Barden, who played a key role in the viral and critically acclaimed series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Capping this all off is Game of Thrones star, Tobias Menzies.

The premiere – our take on the film 

We asked Emily to attend this exclusive event for us because she’s an experienced F1 fan who’s worked in live events for years. She’s spent a lot of time at F1 tracks, and knows what’s she’s talking about. So, what did she think? 

“From what I had heard and seen I had a feeling it would be very different to any sport-based film I’d seen before, as it had been filmed so closely alongside the actual sport,” she says. “I thought it would give a good insight behind the scenes of Formula One. 

“I think the film felt amazingly immersive. Not just like being in an F1 car, but also the real-life races and racing environment. I loved that the film included real-time F1 drivers, team principals, broadcasters, and press.”

“I was also pleasantly surprised with the humour and comedy elements that were brought into it. You really felt as though you were almost watching a documentary or someone’s real life.” 

The film seems very male-oriented. In fact, most of the characters throughout are male. Is it just a lot of dick-waving macho behaviour, or is there more to it? 

“Kerry Condon, who played the first female engineer, really showed the strength that women in F1 actually have. It’s obviously a very male dominated sport, but her character really represented a strong and intelligent woman in a role that would have stereotypically been seen as a male role.

“I think Brad Pitt and Damson Idris were brilliant. Damson really stood out, and I think you could pick up the influence that Lewis Hamilton has had on the film. Maybe how he may have felt at the start of his own career as a young black, British F1 rookie.” 

Let’s talk about the driving scenes… 

“These were amazing and something I’ve never seen done so well in a movie before. Both drivers actually drove the cars in the film during live races. And you really felt as if you were in the car with them. Because the races were shot during real race weekends with the current drivers it felt very current, and very real! 

“It’s also something that true-blue F1 fans will love. There are so many references to in-jokes within the sport circles. There’s a lot of the real team owners, principals and drivers in it too, so you get to see the sport from so many different angles.”

The storyline is perhaps inevitably secondary to the incredible tech and visual experience that the film offers. And to be fair, it’s not exactly a plot that will have anyone scratching their heads to understand. Without giving away too many spoilers: 

“The storyline about the team being the underdog and the outcome of the races felt very predictable, until the final race comes around where it is touch and go, and you don’t know what might happen. I won’t say any more than that! 

“With the romance plot (there is one!), again because this did feel completely predictable. But I think it worked well within the overall story line so that it wasn’t just about the racing.” 

And so, any final words?  

“You could definitely feel the influence of Lewis in this film heavily. From how the drivers would interact with each other, how strategy meetings are led, how everyone interacts in the team garage to everything that goes on back at the teams HQ it just felt very real.”  

“Everyone and anyone will enjoy this film. It’s not an intellectual challenge, but equally, you really don’t have to be an F1 fan to enjoy it.”

In celebration of Father’s Day, private number plate supplier Regtransfers has launched the Top 100 Dad Rock Playlist Driving Tunes – the ultimate soundtrack for summer road trips and school runs. The nostalgia-fuelled playlist reflects how both driving music and fatherhood have evolved, with new research showing that rock remains one of Britain’s favourite driving genres.

To find out what Brits enjoy listening to behind the wheel, Regtransfers conducted a survey and found that 29 per cent of respondents picked rock as their go-to driving genre. 47 per cent said that music helps them feel more focused and alert while driving.

Commenting on the study’s findings, CEO Mark Trimbee explained, “listening to music while driving can be a fantastic way to add enjoyment to the experience. But as research has shown, it can also be a bit of a minefield. What’s particularly interesting is that whether music helps or hinders focus behind the wheel depends on a range of factors. And tempo, volume, and familiarity all play a part in this.”

Indeed, a recent study revealed that fast-tempo music can subconsciously encourage drivers to speed, or make quicker lane changes. Conversely, while slow-tempo tracks can promote calmness, excessively slow music may have the opposite effect, potentially inducing drowsiness.

But it’s not just about tempo

Further research suggests that familiarity with your chosen playlist – how well you know the songs – matters as well. Listening to complex or unfamiliar tracks can divert attention away from driving tasks.

“Rock music is known for its high energy, intricate riffs and tendency to be played at higher volumes,” adds Rick Cadger, one of the main brains behind this year’s playlist. “Whether it’s the ‘best’ music to drive to is up for debate, but it’s certainly one of the most entertaining. And as a genre Dad Rock offers a particularly fun, feel-good soundtrack.”

The term ‘Dad Rock’ was first coined in a 2007 Pitchfork review by music critic Rob Mitchum. And until recently, playlists bearing the label have been synonymous with a certain subset of bands – Queen, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones and more – combining nostalgia with punchy, road-friendly riffs.

However, as Regtransfers Marketing Manager Angela Banh points out, the famous faces of Dad Rock are undergoing a period of generational metamorphosis.

“Given that we tend to form our core music tastes between the ages of 13 and 16, the generation who grew up with Led Zeppelin, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Black Sabbath are now mostly likely in or approaching their sixties,” she explains. “Today’s dads are more likely to have come of age with the songs of Linkin Park, The Offspring and Muse. Our playlist reflects that shift, spotlighting bands from the late 90s and early 2000s, which – whether we like to admit it or not – is the new era of Dad Rock.”

There’s one exception to this rule…

And it also happens to be the top pick in the Dad Rock Driving Tunes countdown. Released in 1975 and appearing on their fourth studio album, A Night At The Opera, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody remains firmly seated on the Dad Rock throne.

“We argued for a long time about what song should take the top spot,” Trimbee admits. “Ultimately, Bohemian Rhapsody is a timeless slice of British rock music, adored across generations. We might have to unseat it next year, for the sake of fairness. But for now, we’re more than happy to crown it the number one Dad Rock driving track.”
