TPMS valve servicing: how it’s a game-changer for car owners

Fancy a little car care tip that will help your motor perform better?

TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) valve servicing is a very niche part of car ownership. Required on all vehicles manufactured since 2014, TPMS hardware fits onto your tyres (you will need one per tyre) and constantly monitors the pressure. Should the inflation levels of the car tyre drop below a certain level, a light on your dashboard will illuminate so you know that you need to top up the air, or perhaps even think about replacing your tyres if the low pressure is a signal that something has gone wrong within your tyre.

But your TPMS valve – the part that fits onto the car tyre, and must contain the compressed air that makes your ride so comfortable – comes under a lot of strain, and you should take steps to ensure that it is in good condition and working well, by having it serviced regularly.

TPMS valve servicing offers peace of mind

It is a legal requirement that your tyres are kept within an optimal range of inflation, as determined by your tyres’ manufacturer. The TPMS can help do this for you, so you don’t need to keep checking the pressure manually, when you pop into a service station. But do check your inflation levels manually every now and again as if your TPMS valve begins to degrade it might misread your inflation levels. If both readings are the same, you can relax, knowing that your car tyres are in good shape – and so is the TPMS valve. If the readings do begin to differ, get TMPS valve servicing completed as soon as you can to restore it to proper functioning. You can book your TPMS Valve servicing from DAT Tyres if your air pressure has recently started to fluctuate.

TPMS keeps you safe on the road

Keeping your car – and especially the tyres – in good shape is the only way you can be sure that your car will not break down through neglect. Checking your tread depth, your car tyre inflation and ensuring that your TPMS valve servicing is done in a timely manner all help to give you the best possible vehicle in which to brave the UK’s busy roads.

Reduced fuel consumption with a properly serviced TPMS valve

If your tyres are losing air pressure without you noticing – and this is possible with tiny slow leaks that very slowly and subtly lose air, so that you can be driving on poorly inflated tyres for some time before it gets bad enough for you to notice. You might not notice, but the vehicle will respond to the increased friction, which places a greater demand on the engine to get the car into motion and up to speed. Your TPMS valve service ensures that you are alerted the moment your car tyre begins to degrade, so you can take steps right away to have your tyres repaired or replaced, saving you fuel and money.

TPMS valve service aids the environment

Driving is basically an environmentally unfriendly practice, but manufacturers have begun to work on making it more ecologically suitable: EVs are coming along, fuels are becoming ‘greener’, and even car tyres are now largely made from sustainably sourced rubber, rather than from Amazonian rubber trees. Regular TPMS valve servicing is another way that you can help minimise the impact of your driving on the world around you: reducing emissions, lowering fuel consumption, and ensuring that your resource-heavy tyres will last as long as possible.
